Hi, I am Maria, a third generation artist and traveling illustrator currently based in Sofia, Bulgaria. I love to create colourful, playful, naive and very detailed art and have worked on a huge range of projects from packaging and advertising to book illustration and editorial.
I am a multidisciplinary artist exploring the topic of beauty in everyday life using various disciplines and materials. I graduated with a BA in Visual Arts and and a Major in Animation from the New Bulgarian University in Sofia. Later I pursued a Master’s degree in Animation in Germany at the Academy of Media Arts. After graduation, I continued my work in Berlin.
I worked for over 15 years as an animator both in 2d and 3d. My experience includes feature films, my own award-winning short films, advertisements and mostly work for all kinds of video games.
Some of the companies I have worked for include Wooga, Microsoft, Cartoon Saloon, DDBO, and others. In the past five years, I focused mainly on the field of illustration.
